World League: report on the first weekend of the tournament for the Erreà teams!
04/06/2017 23:00 - Erreà Sport
The first weekend of encounters in the 2017 Men’s Volleyball World League, held in Pesaro, Kazan and Novi Sad, got off to a great start for the Erreà teams. Spectacular performance by France, which despite the absence of Ngapeth was the only team in Group 1 to complete this first phase of the tournament undefeated. After Bulgaria and Russia, Tillie’s men beat Argentina, as predicted, with 20 points scored by Boyer and 14 by Le Roux. In Pool B, in Novi Sad, coach Heynen’s Belgium won the group thanks to the second victory of the weekend: 3-1 over the USA, who failed to capitalise on a chance to open up the match again when they were 23-20 up in the 4th set. An excellent result for the Erreà team, which was also able once again to count on the excellent performance in attack of Dero and Van den Dries. In Pesaro, Italy got off to a good start with a 3-0 victory over Iran, but then went on to lose against Poland and Brazil. These losses have not dampened in any way the morale of coach Blengini’s team, who showed good playing skills and a strong desire to perform well, aiming for a place in the Final Six in Brazil. In Pesaro, Team Italy was welcomed by a packed, hugely enthusiastic crowd at the Erreà stand, where, during the "Golden Set" they signed lots of autographs and posed for photos. Also extremely popular and successful were the official strips of the Italian national team and all the Erreà merchandising for the Italian Volleyball Federation. There is a great sense of anticipation for the second weekend of the World League, which will take the Erreà teams to Pau in France and Tehran in Iran.
